Western Michigan Football

A season with high hopes. 

As Western moves to 17 in the AP pool they have a great chance of making one of the new years 6 bowl. As the team that was in front of us to go to one of these bowl games Boise state loss this last weekend to Wyoming putting Western ahead of them. With sports center saying that Western has the best chance to go undefeated this season giving them a 63% chance. With Ball State coming up on Tuesday Western is highly favored in this game. With this Win would be the best start in the programs history going 9-0. The hardest game will be against Toledo which is our last game of the season which will be a great game.   

Another win for WMU football.

As Western Michigan hosted Eastern Michigan on Saturday it was cold day, but all of Western fans still filled up Waldo Stadium to watch Western try to keep this undefeated season going. With the game away Western scored first but Eastern answered to put the game 7-7 going into the second quarter. With the game going to 17-10 at the end of the half the game was not over. With Pj Fleck and the Western team we were able to close out the game with a 45-31 victory. This win made this team tie the school record for the best start in school history going 8-0. As WMU is one of 9 teams that is still undefeated this season sports center gave Western the most likely team to go undefeated and would possibly get the team in a new years 6 bowl.

                                                   WMU On a Path to Greatness!!!                                                                Western Michigan's Football team just played the top team on the East side of the MAC conference. The game was away at Akron as Western was prepared for this game. Before the game even started Akron's team broke an oar to try to get their team excited and pumped before the game. The reason for breaking the oar is the modo at Western is Row The Boat started by the current coach PJ Fleck who has transformed this team into greatness. Coach Fleck was not entertained and neither was the Westerns Team. As Western came out in the first half scoring 27 to Akron's 0 lets just say breaking the oar was the worst mistake Akron could make as it sparked Western's players and coaches. With the game ending 41 to nothing Western moves on from Akron and focuses on their next target Eastern Michigan with this win Western would tie its best starting record ever in school history with 8-0.    

Western Michigan 6-0

   First time ranked in school history

After the great win against our long time rival Northern Illinois; Western Football becomes 6-0 for their record. This is the first time since 1941 that Western has started 6-0. This is a great turn around from PJ Fleck's first season as head coach at Western only going 1-11 in the season. This is the first time Western has beaten Northern Illinois, the defending mac champions, since 2008. This is turning into a great season for Western with only unchartered territories moving forward. This is the first time Western has been ranked in both the coaches poll and the AP poll giving us a 24 and 23 ranking. With already being bowl eligible Western still has eyes set on the Mac championship game with many hard teams to play in our future.  

Frostic Reading(extra Credit)

        The frostic readings was an eye opener to me as I have never been to one or probably wouldn't of gone. The poetry was incredible to me. My favorite one of the first speaker was empire of nerds. With the comedy and details that really brought the listener in. It had such a relevant theme in todays society. My favorite piece of the second reader was "we ride back". All of his poems were about normal people so the listener could really understand what was happening and maybe relate in some way. The last poet wrote about criminal cases that were still unsolved with my favorite being Texas 7 which was about 7 criminals who escaped jail and killed a cop on their way. All were great speakers and poets also how they were all from Western was really cool. What I learned from them about writing was that you need to stay focused on the story and not drift off. Also, use great detail in the story to put the reader in the place so they can visualize what is going on. Lastly, make sure you put some story of each character so you can connect with one as someone is reading it.        

Central thought they had a chance!!! Western 5-0

   Western Michigan Football 5-0

        It was a cold rainy day as the biggest game of western's season is about to be played. As you felt the hate in the air with all of the Western fans arriving to centrals campus the game didn't start till 7 but everybody was tailgating at noon getting ready for this rivalry between two schools with both solid records as Western was 4-0 and central being 3-1 this game could be the one that determined who had the chance of winning the MAC championship. As the game started we thought it was going to be a good game as central marched down the field scoring the first points with a field goal or 3 points. That ended quickly as Western scored the following drive and going up 21-3 at half. As all of centrals student section and fans left the game was over with the ending score 49-10 as Western stays undefeated as they get ready to play Northern Illinois.
