WMU Football

As Western went 12-0 on the season it was time to focus their attentions on the Mac Championship game which is played at Ford Field. A new record was created as Western fans filled the stadium. Our opponent was the university of Ohio. Each team got to play in the Mac Championship by having the best record of their side of the Mac division. It was a hard fought game Friday Night as it came down to the wire as Western was up 29-23 with only a couple of minutes left on the clock in the 4 quarter and Ohio had the ball. As they were marching down the field their quarter back threw an interception with only 1 minute remanning.  Western ran out the clock giving them the championship as the crowd of 45,615 went crazy. This win gives WMU a 13-0 season so far as they are going to play in a new years 6 bowl the cotton bowl which is in Dallas Texas against Wisconsin. This will be Western's toughest team they have faced all year. Go Western RTB. 

WMU 12-0

For the first time in school history Wester Michigan completed a perfect regular season going 12-0. To do this we had to beat Toledo the last game in our season. It was a good start as the first play Western scored a pick 6 to get the first points on the board. The game was close in the first half with the ending score being 24 to 14. The third quarter tho Western's defense stepped up their game not letting Toledo score a single point as Westerns offense scored three touchdowns to get the lead to 45 to 14. As the ending score was 55 to 35 this win has WMU playing for the Mac championship which they haven't played in since 2008. Western will play Ohio and with that win will get them to one of the new years 6 bowl.

 

College Game Day is Coming to WMU

As Western took on Kent State on Tuesday it was a hard fought game. Western was loosing at half 13 to 14. As coach P.J. Fleck rallied his team for the second half out scored Kent State 24 to 7 to have a victory of 37-21. This win brings WMU to a 10-0 season with being one of only two teams left undefeated this season.  The game top performers are Zach Terrell going 6-13 for 83 yards which is a shock for how low the numbers are but due to the down poor rain it caused it hard to pass. J. Franklin ran for 134 yards and getting a TD to help take this win. College Gameday will be coming to WMU as Western takes on Buffalo to try and go 11-0 in this already historic season.

As Western took on Ball State on the 1 of November they were looking for another win against this good team. It was at Ball State as they looked to try and end Westerns perfect 8-0 start. As coach P.J. Fleck gave his WMU team an inspirational pre game speech he had his players pumped and ready to play. Western came out scoring 21 points in the first quarter with Ball State only scoring 7. As Western kept up the heat all game they came to a victory of 52 to 20. Corey Davis one of the best wide receivers to ever play in the Mac had an outstanding performance. He broke the schools and Mac's record for number of receiving yards per game. He had 272 yards in 12 receptions and 3 touch downs. He will likely go first round in this upcoming NFL draft. As Western keeps their eyes on the prize which is to play in the Mac championship game.

 

Western Michigan Football

A season with high hopes. 

As Western moves to 17 in the AP pool they have a great chance of making one of the new years 6 bowl. As the team that was in front of us to go to one of these bowl games Boise state loss this last weekend to Wyoming putting Western ahead of them. With sports center saying that Western has the best chance to go undefeated this season giving them a 63% chance. With Ball State coming up on Tuesday Western is highly favored in this game. With this Win would be the best start in the programs history going 9-0. The hardest game will be against Toledo which is our last game of the season which will be a great game.   

Another win for WMU football.

As Western Michigan hosted Eastern Michigan on Saturday it was cold day, but all of Western fans still filled up Waldo Stadium to watch Western try to keep this undefeated season going. With the game away Western scored first but Eastern answered to put the game 7-7 going into the second quarter. With the game going to 17-10 at the end of the half the game was not over. With Pj Fleck and the Western team we were able to close out the game with a 45-31 victory. This win made this team tie the school record for the best start in school history going 8-0. As WMU is one of 9 teams that is still undefeated this season sports center gave Western the most likely team to go undefeated and would possibly get the team in a new years 6 bowl.      

Western Michigan Football 7-0

                                                   WMU On a Path to Greatness!!!                                                                Western Michigan's Football team just played the top team on the East side of the MAC conference. The game was away at Akron as Western was prepared for this game. Before the game even started Akron's team broke an oar to try to get their team excited and pumped before the game. The reason for breaking the oar is the modo at Western is Row The Boat started by the current coach PJ Fleck who has transformed this team into greatness. Coach Fleck was not entertained and neither was the Westerns Team. As Western came out in the first half scoring 27 to Akron's 0 lets just say breaking the oar was the worst mistake Akron could make as it sparked Western's players and coaches. With the game ending 41 to nothing Western moves on from Akron and focuses on their next target Eastern Michigan with this win Western would tie its best starting record ever in school history with 8-0.    

Western Michigan 6-0

   First time ranked in school history

After the great win against our long time rival Northern Illinois; Western Football becomes 6-0 for their record. This is the first time since 1941 that Western has started 6-0. This is a great turn around from PJ Fleck's first season as head coach at Western only going 1-11 in the season. This is the first time Western has beaten Northern Illinois, the defending mac champions, since 2008. This is turning into a great season for Western with only unchartered territories moving forward. This is the first time Western has been ranked in both the coaches poll and the AP poll giving us a 24 and 23 ranking. With already being bowl eligible Western still has eyes set on the Mac championship game with many hard teams to play in our future.  

Frostic Reading(extra Credit)

        The frostic readings was an eye opener to me as I have never been to one or probably wouldn't of gone. The poetry was incredible to me. My favorite one of the first speaker was empire of nerds. With the comedy and details that really brought the listener in. It had such a relevant theme in todays society. My favorite piece of the second reader was "we ride back". All of his poems were about normal people so the listener could really understand what was happening and maybe relate in some way. The last poet wrote about criminal cases that were still unsolved with my favorite being Texas 7 which was about 7 criminals who escaped jail and killed a cop on their way. All were great speakers and poets also how they were all from Western was really cool. What I learned from them about writing was that you need to stay focused on the story and not drift off. Also, use great detail in the story to put the reader in the place so they can visualize what is going on. Lastly, make sure you put some story of each character so you can connect with one as someone is reading it.        

Central thought they had a chance!!! Western 5-0

   Western Michigan Football 5-0

        It was a cold rainy day as the biggest game of western's season is about to be played. As you felt the hate in the air with all of the Western fans arriving to centrals campus the game didn't start till 7 but everybody was tailgating at noon getting ready for this rivalry between two schools with both solid records as Western was 4-0 and central being 3-1 this game could be the one that determined who had the chance of winning the MAC championship. As the game started we thought it was going to be a good game as central marched down the field scoring the first points with a field goal or 3 points. That ended quickly as Western scored the following drive and going up 21-3 at half. As all of centrals student section and fans left the game was over with the ending score 49-10 as Western stays undefeated as they get ready to play Northern Illinois.      

Western Football Rivalry Week!!!

Western VS Central

As Saturday is coming around your Western Broncos are 4-0 and about to start in conference games. The first team we have to take out is one of the teams we hate the most Central Michigan. The Mac voted this to be the biggest rivalry in the hole conference. The history of us playing together is Western leads with all time wins of 47 to Centrals 37. We have won the last two years against the chips. They started playing in 1907 and in 2008 they made a trophy known as the Victory Cannon which is called that because of how both teams have cannons in their stadiums which fire after every touchdown. This season Western is trying to keep their win streak going to 5-0 which they haven't done since 1994. Then Central just loosing to Virginia they still are 3-1 and are looking to change to add another win to their stats. So this will be a great game with nobody knowing how it will play out.

         AS Western Broncos took on Illinois on Saturday with their second big Ten win with their record going to 3-0. It was a hard fought game but as Zach Terrell throwing for 150 yards with a completion rate of 9-13 he had lead his team in another victory. He had some help tho as the starting running back ran for 189 yards with two touch downs Jamauri Bogan surely showed he can run through anything. Then of course the wide receiver Corey Davis averaging almost 25 yards per catch as he is living up to his full potential. With all of these players their is a coach who gets them excited for every game and his name is P.J. Fleck getting his team pumped after every win and then focusing on the next game against Georgia southern it should be another great game this Saturday!!!!

                               Western Michigan vs Illinois

As Western Football gets ready for Saturdays game against Illinois there is something on everybody's mind which is can western start out winning three games in a row? To start, before the win last week against North Carolina; Western hasn't started out 2-0(wins to Loses) since 1994. To put that into perspective I still wont be born for another three years. With that 1994 season they started out with a 5-0 start and I believe we can beat that this year. The first reason is because of our coach PJ Fleck. I have never seen a coach with so much enthusiasm and excitement not just for the game, but for the school Western Michigan University and the football program.  Second is our five year senior quarter back Zach Terrell. With his experience he will be a great leader on and off the field. Lastly there are many outstanding players this year who will impact the game. So with all of these players and our out standing coach and his staff we will get the win on Saturday and have an outstanding season.

                                             Western Michigan Football
     Football is one of my favorite sports because of the atmosphere for every game. To start,  how passionate people get for their favorite team, and how that leads to schools trying so hard just to have the best tailgate's with the craziest student sections to try and route your team to victory. With that my favorite team is Western Michigan university for two reasons first is because well I go here so of course I want my school to win. The second reason is because last year I came to kalamazoo to watch the WMU vs MSU game. It was the first game of the season and before the game even started I went to where all the college kids tailgated and just saw how nice everyone hanging out with everybody with just having one goal to beat MSU, and thats when I knew this school was right for me. With Western not beating a big 10 school since 2008 and they really wanted to change that. Although they lost that game they gave MSU a scare and in that same season went on to winning their first bowl game in school history, and then their first game of 2016 defeating Northwestern a big ten school with an epic finally ending the streak with high expectations for this season but it's football so you never know what could happen so we will just have to wait and see.
